Peter is English and married to Anne, they have three grown up and married children, and one grandson! He has been working out his calling to peacemaking and reconciliation for the past fifteen years, and has been based at St Mary's, the town centre Parish Church of Luton since 2007.  He came late to multicultural urban life having grown up as a farmer’s son in rural Sussex.  His journey has meant Peter seeks to be very sensitive to the challenges traditional England has in encountering our multicultural cities.

Before arriving in Luton he travelled extensively, teaching in the church and mission context on intercultural relations, the impact of western colonialism and mission on indigenous cultures, and peace and reconciliation. He was involved at various points with his colleague Cathy Nobles in the Reconciliation Walk, and through that learnt how Muslims and Christians could live and work together.

From 2001 to 2008 Peter worked extensively in China, seeking to bring westerners and Chinese together to repair the damage to relationships incurred during British colonialism and mission n and around China.

In 2009, he found himself at the heart of events in Luton, following the homecoming parade of a local regiment, and has been chasing them ever since. It has taken him into the world of understanding and engaging with extremism, especially on the far right; into building close relationships with our towns Muslim community; and work with the police and local government. As a result he now has close working relationships, friendships and goodwill, as well as a voice in the local community he could never have imagined possible.
